About me
Erica Brown Gaddis, PhD, is a Senior Policy Advisor for the Western States Water Council where she assists states with developing and analyzing water policies including those related to EPA rulemakings, infrastructure funding, and abandoned mine land remediation. Erica also teaches water courses at Utah State University and the University of Utah and serves on the Board of The Leakey Foundation. She regularly contributes to United Nation Environment Programme projects including her current work chairing the Measuring Progress: Water Ecosystems and the SDGs report working group. Erica previously served as the Director of the Utah Division of Water Quality from 2017-2022. Prior to joining UDWQ, Erica worked as a consultant with expertise in water resources and water quality. She holds a BS in Biology and Environmental Science from Willamette University in Oregon; a MS from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, and a PhD in Natural Resources from the University of Vermont, Gund Institute for Ecological Economics. Erica was born and raised in Utah and enjoys living in Salt Lake City with her husband and three sons.
